Architectural Design Tools in Blender 2.8x – 3D Design
Welcome to the Architectural Design and Animation in Blender course. In this course, you will learn how to lay out the design and create photo-realistic animations of this modern house. This is a great skill to have especially for 3D artists who create their own works and those who wish to create architectural structures and models.
We start by drawing up the 2D floor plan, an essential step for those looking to master the design aspect of their projects.
The next step is to take the floor plan and start the 3D modeling part of this project. This step includes the Archipack add-on which helps in the creation of walls, doors and windows to quickly assemble the structure. Once the structure is in place, we will add a high dynamic range image to light up the scene. This lighting will help us get real lighting conditions to see our material.
This brings us to Materials and Textures where you’ll learn how to use the Blenders PBR material shader to create a realistic 3D model. This is a really important skill to have when creating architectural scenes in Blender.
We look at more advanced techniques, including creating grass using the particle system and creating trees using the saplings add-on.
We complete this section by rendering a photo-realistic image.
The next step is the fun part where we prepare the model for animation. We’re making the house appear slowly using Boolean modifiers, and I’m going to show you a cool feature to quickly preview how the animation will look before a full render.
Finally, we use render layers to speed up rendering and take a look at the composer in Blender to bring the elements together.

Animation and rendering
Learn how to design in this incredibly powerful 3D production suite and start designing architectural 3D models, designing 3D games, designing unique 3D assets, designing 3D printed objects or creating amazing works of art.
Architectural visualization in Blender will allow you to impress your clients with realistic photo animations and images of their proposed designs.
The course is designed for hands-on learning and will take you step by step through the process from creating 2D drawings to creating custom 3D models. Check out the Archipack add-on in Blender, try out the new PBR capabilities as we add materials, lighting and cameras to the scene, when you complete this course you will be able to use Blender as a complete 3D drawing and visualization package. With the latest version of Blender, there has never been a better time to let your creativity run wild.
The lessons are taught with practical examples and aim to complement the architectural design project. Learning Blender doesn’t have to be difficult and you should enjoy the journey by creating amazing architectural renderings and 3D models.

What is this course about?
This course is a complete AutoCAD 2018, 19, 20 and 2021 learning package that contains almost all the topics you will need to work with this software. The course is designed for both beginners and advanced users.
A beginner can start learning the software from scratch by taking the course right from the first lecture. An experienced AutoCAD user will also find this course very comprehensive and can choose the topics they want to learn to skip the basics.
Project oriented course
The lessons of the course are mainly project oriented and most of the tools and commands are taught with their real world applications. Each module ends with a practical question related to the course and students are encouraged to answer the questions before proceeding further.
Drawings for practice
In addition to the end-of-module questions, this course also contains a comprehensive section devoted to “practical drawings” and projects such as floor plan, circuit diagram and others.
Autodesk Revit – beginner to an intermediate level
Throughout this course I will be using the 2018 metric version in conjunction with the UK Component Library. If you are using the Imperial version and / or another regional library, don’t worry. All the steps and processes will be the same.
As with BIM, you only work on one project, so I built this course the same way. We will model a single project throughout the course.
If you are new to Revit or any other CAD software, don’t worry. I’ll start from the start by building yourself up to be more than able to create your own Revit models.
The course will start with the basics; from terminology used by Revit to tools and interface.
We will then start to develop our project, introducing a new tool and a new feature as we progress.
Addition of reference elements; such as levels and grids.
Structural components; like structural and architectural columns
Major and minor components such as; walls, windows, doors, floors, stairs, ceilings, curtain walls and roofs.
We will then take it to the next level and learn how to create 2D details, label components, create schedules and captions, create render images and video presentations.
Finally, we will install our sheets and send them to print.
In addition to the videos, I have provided you with lecture notes to follow as well as files to work with.
When we complete this course, you will have the skills and knowledge to lead a project from start to finish using the tools and library provided by Autodesk.
