Microsoft Excel – Excel Power Query, Power Pivot & DAX

This course introduces the powerful data modeling and business intelligence tools of Microsoft Excel: Power Query, Power Pivot, and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX). If you are looking to become an advanced Excel user and energize your Excel analysis game, this course is the A-Z guide you are looking for. I will introduce you to the “Power Excel” landscape and explore what these Excel tools are and why they are changing the world of self-service business intelligence. Together, we’ll walk through the Excel BI workflow and create a complete Excel data model from scratch:

We will first familiarize ourselves with Power Query; a tool to extract, transform, and load data into Excel from flat files, folders, databases, API services and more. We’ll practice formatting, merging, and exploring our project files in Excel’s Query Editor, and create fully automated loading procedures in Excel with just a few clicks.

From there, we’ll dive into Data Modeling 101 and cover the fundamentals of database design and standardization (including table relationships, cardinality, hierarchies, and more). We’ll visit the Excel data model interface, showcase some best practices and tips from professionals, and then build our own relational database to analyze throughout the course.

Finally, we’ll use Power Pivot and DAX to explore and analyze our Excel data model. Unlike traditional Excel PivotTables, Power Pivot lets you analyze hundreds of millions of rows across multiple data tables (inside Excel!) And create supercharged calculated fields using a a formula language called Data Analysis Expressions (or “DAX” for short). We’ll cover basic DAX syntax, then walk through some of the most powerful and commonly used functions – CALCULATE, FILTER, SUMX, and more.

If you’re ready to take your Excel game to new heights and join the cutting edge of business intelligence and analytics, this course is for you. It’s time to stop struggling with tedious manual tasks and struggle with “old-fashioned” Excel; join me on this journey and emerge a Certified Excel Analysis NINJA.

DAX Power Pivot – 10 Easy Steps for Beginners

If your goal is to enter the world of BI, data mining and / or data analysis, you must take this course. All of these environments and roles require the skills you are about to learn.

Microsoft PowerPivot is an add-on for Excel that provides business intelligence and reporting functionality in the familiar Excel environment.

This capability enables hundreds of millions of rows of data to be manipulated with the ability to deliver business insight and shorter decision-making cycles while laughing at normal Excel’s million row threshold.

To begin with, the course focuses on importing data into Power Pivot to create the data model. You’ll learn about calculated columns and other DAX-related concepts that show you how to “shape” data.

Next, you’ll create relationships between the data tables, negating the need for VLOOKUP. Reducing the time it takes to ‘shape’ your data – is one of the main benefits of this great tool.

With the data model in place, you then dive into the world of DAX measurements. These are EXpressions data analysis functions that build the formulas to deliver the business insights decision-makers and stakeholders dream of.

There is no programming involved with DAX – your experience with Excel formulas has prepared you well for the next step of your Excel journey.

Throughout the course, we work together to build the data model and measures. At the end of each step, you have the opportunity to practice creating your own measures to help you consolidate, integrate, and reinforce everything you have learned. I offer a solutions video conference before moving on to make sure you are on the right track and ready to move on.

I provide all the files you need to follow along with a fully supported 78 pg enriched screenshot. pdf user guide containing all steps and practical exercises with solutions.

Power Pivot is the perfect tool for those working in finance, statistics, project analysis, business and market or for any other data reporting role that needs to create and produce Business Intelligence style dashboard reports.

Thank you for taking the time to review my course. I look forward to helping you take the next step in developing your Excel skills. I used Excel 2016 to demonstrate this fantastic tool, but you can follow along in Excel 2010 and 2013 – I’ll do my best to point out the differences. Microsoft Power Pivot (Excel) and SSAS (Tabular DAX model)

This course covers one of the most useful add-ins to Microsoft Excel, PowerPivot, and the Tabular Model in SQL Server Analytical Services.

We’ll enable PowerPivot if you have the correct version of Excel, and if not, we’ll install SQL Server on your computer, which can do the same job. We will install the Developer Edition for free, which previously cost $ 100.

Once PowerPivot is enabled or SQL Server is installed, we’ll create our first analysis in Excel in minutes.

After just those first few minutes, you’ll be ahead of anyone who doesn’t know anything about Power Pivot.

After this introduction, we’ll get into the details in PowerPivot or SSAS – the initial data and the different options available to you. We’ll cover some advanced options that most people aren’t even familiar with, but which are very useful.

Then we will develop DAX formulas, to further extend the model. Many formulas are based on Excel formulas, but there are also several additional things.

In the end, you will be an expert user of PowerPivot and SSAS, able to create reliable analyzes that can be explored quickly, and you will be able to help others with their data analysis.

It will help with the Model Data section of Microsoft Exam 70-779 “Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Microsoft Excel”.

It will also help with the “Designing a Tabular BI Semantic Model” and “Developing Queries Using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)” section of Microsoft Exam 70-768 “Developing Data Models”. SQL data ”.
